OIM 11G R2 PS2 Lab 3: BI 11.1.1.7.1 Installation and configuration BI publisher with OIM



OIM 11GR2 PS2 BI Publisher Installation and configuration - High Level Steps

1)  WebLogic 10.3.6 Installation
2)  RCU 11.1.1.7.0 Installation
3) BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 Installation and configuration
4) BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.1 Patch
5) Configure OIM OOTB reports with BI Publisher

weblogic 10.3.6 installers can be downloaded from :

RCU 11.1.1.7.0 installer can be downloaded from :

BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 installer can be downloaded from :
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/downloads/bi-downloads-1923016.html

 BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.1 Patch can be download from here:
 Support.oracle.com and patch number is 16556157.


1)  WebLogic 10.3.6 Installation :

  • Go to weblogic installer and run "java -jar wls1036_generic.jar"

  • Click on next
  • Click on next
  • Click on yes
  • Click on yes
  • Select the checkbox and hit continue
  • Click on next
  • Click on next
  • Click on next
  • Click on next
  • Click on Done

2)  RCU 11.1.1.7.0 Installation

  • Go to rcu/bin and run the ./rcu
  • Click on next
  • Select Create and click on next
  • Give the Database connect details and click on next
  • Click on OK
  • Give the Prefix name and select Oracle Business Intelligence and click on next
  • Click on OK
  • Select "Use same password for all schemas" enter a password and click on next
  • Click on next
  • Click on ok
  • Click on ok
  • Click on Create
  • Click on close

3) BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 Installation and configuration

  • Go to BI installer and run "./runInstaller -jreLoc /app/jdk1.6.0_29/"

  • Click on next
  • Select "Skip software updates" and click on next
  • Select Enterprise Install and click on next
  • Click on next
  • Select Create New BI System and give the username, password and Domain name
  • Create BI folder and browse to that location then hit next
  • Select first two checkbox and click on next
  • Give the database connection string, BI_BIPLATFORM Schema name and password hit next
  • Click on next
  • Click on next
  • Uncheck the checkbox and click on next
  • Click on yes
  • Click on Install

  • Click on next
  • Click on Finish

  • Stop Admin and BI server before you start patching
    • Go to Weblogic console > servers
    • Select Admin and BI server and force shoutdown
  • Click on yes
4) BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.1 Patch

  • Unzip the patches and keep in one folder

  • Export ORACLE_HOME, PATH and run opatch napply command.
  • Enter y
  • Variefy the patch with opatch lsinventory command

5) Configure OIM OOTB reports with BI

  • Go to ORACLE_IDM1/servers/reports and unzip the oim reports

  • Copy the unzip folder to BI_domain/config/bipublisher/repository/Reports folder
  • Now start the weblogic server

  • Start BI Server
  • Start BI Services
  • Login to weblogic console > myrelems >create user>
    • Create one admin user for BI
  • Assign BI administrator roles
  • Login to BI publisher URL(Localhost:9704/xmlpserver) with admin user

  • Click on Administrator > JDBC Connection
  • Click on Add JDBC Source
  • Give the OIM JDBC connection string , OIM schema and password
  • Click on Server configuration
  • In the BI Publisher repository assign the BI reports location
    • Location=BI_Doamin/config/bipublisher/repository/Reports
